What is the difference between galvanized and stainless steel?

Aug 13, 2025

galvanized steel vs stainless steel

Galvanized pipes have excellent resistance to external forces and can be used for above-ground pipes. They are commonly used in house construction, handicrafts, wire mesh weaving, and highway guardrails.

Galvanized steel can be further divided into hot-dip galvanized and cold-dip galvanized. Hot-dip galvanizing has a faster production speed but results in an uneven coating and requires a significant amount of zinc metal. It forms a penetration layer with the base metal, offering excellent corrosion resistance.

Stainless steel pipes are hollow, cylindrical steel materials with excellent corrosion resistance. They are widely used in industrial applications such as oil, chemicals, healthcare, food processing, light industry, and mechanical instrumentation for conveying pipelines and mechanical structural components. Additionally, when bending and torsional strength are comparable, they are lighter in weight, making them widely used in the manufacture of mechanical parts and engineering structures. They are also commonly used in the production of various conventional weapons, gun barrels, and shells.
